How to Detect and Prevent Adblock in WordPress

Does your ad revenue not match your web traffic? If so, chances are that many of your visitors are using the Adblock plugin on their web browser. This basically means that they view your content without allowing you to generate ad revenue. This can represent a very significant financial loss for web developers who depend on advertising revenue to earn a living.

Unfortunately, Guatemala WhatsApp Number the methods you can use to deal with it will usually have worse effects than what’s happening right now. Just think about why people use Adblock. They just want to check out the website without seeing all the random offers from other sites and services. Today I will show you how to detect Adblock in WordPress using the Adblocker plugin.

What Is It and Why So Many People Use Adblock

Adblock is a great plugin for those who want to escape the large amount of ads on the internet. It is a web browser plugin and can only be enabled or disabled by the computer user. This means that web developers have no way to force you to disable it. It’s a great selling point and the best part is that it’s free. That’s right, there’s absolutely no downside for people using Adblock and that’s exactly why I use it too, but unfortunately it’s not as good for the other end of the spectrum. Content creators live off advertising revenue and other sources through their websites.

For example, a very popular platform that is devastated by Adblock is YouTube. Without Adblock, you have to watch an ad 5-30 seconds before each video, which is a really big hurdle for people who watch a lot of YouTube videos. Since ads are how they make their money, many cannot continue creating content for their channel and have to leave the platform or look for other sources of income. This same concept applies to all ad-blocked content on WordPress websites.

What Options Do I Have as a Content Creator

There are 3 options available to you, but honestly, they all have downsides. The first is to prevent Adblock in WordPress. This means that to enter your website, your visitors will either have to disable the Adblock plugin or whitelist your website. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work well. Most websites that have tried this reported that 70% of visitors will simply go to a different website when given this option. This is really bad because you are going to struggle to grow if no one is talking about your website and will end up sending visitors to the competition.

The next option is the opposite of the last, which just ignores it. Yes, it is a valid option to consider especially when you are just starting out. Your web traffic won’t be so high and visitors will share your website and help you increase your traffic, but you still won’t earn anything for each person with Adblock installed.

The last option is more of a middle ground, which is my preferred option and I highly recommend using it. Just let visitors know that they are hurting you and that they should consider whitelisting your website or donating to help the website grow. There are many crowdfunding platforms like Patreon where you can get visitors to donate a dollar. This means you have the option to whitelist your website, donate or just ignore them all and they can still enjoy the website no matter what they choose.
